jonny diazHave you heard of Jonny Diaz? I hadn’t until I was contacted by INO Records recently about reviewing his newest cd – More Beautiful You. I’m so glad that I said yes to this review!

The cd came in the mail a few days ago… I brought it with me on our trip to Warrens, but didn’t get the chance to listen to it then since Ray and I talked almost the whole way up (he had to keep me awake after all!). I finally got the chance to listen to the cd, undisturbed, yesterday as I was ironing the living room curtains. The upbeat, catchy lyrics were the perfect accompaniment to the sunny fall day we were having here in northern IL. I found myself tapping my toes in time to the beat as I ironed and saw that Noah had stopped playing with his toys and books so that he could go over to the laptop and “dance” or sway along with the music (I tried to get a video of it, but whenever he sees that the camcorder is on, he stops doing what he was doing and goes toward it instead).

Since I knew nothing of Jonny Diaz or his music prior to this review, I was pleasantly surprised when the music started playing and then again when I started listening to the lyrics… I had no clue that he is a Christian musician! In listening further to the cd, I started thinking to myself that his songs somehow reminded me of Jars of Clay (in reading his biography I found out that they had the same producer on his 3rd cd… you can read more about Jonny here) – I was a big fan of theirs back in the day – before they made it into mainstream radio. I can now say that I am a fan of Jonny’s music as well.

I really enjoyed listening to More Beautiful You and in fact I am listening to it again as I sit here and type this (and Noah is dancing again). I have a hard time deciding which of the songs I like the best, because they all have something that I like about them. If you like music with a great beat to it, something that you can sing along to, then you should check this out.
