Zula Patrol DVD {Review/Giveaway}

I was recently given the chance to review a set of Zula Patrol DVDs. I had watched an episode or two of this series with Noah on a Saturday morning on NBC and thought it was cute, but then again I’m a sucker for cartoons. I accepted the offer and was sent the following two DVDs… “The Zula Patrol: Animal Adventures in Space” and “The Zula Patrol: Moons Mayhem”.

DVD-revise Like I said, I like cartoons and I like them even more when they are educational and teach the child something. In my opinion the Zula Patrol definitely helps children something (although I can’t say just how much Noah learned, seeing that he is still a little young for the show. He did have fun watching and dancing to the songs and music though). The alien characters Captain Bula, Professor Multo, Zeeter the pilot, Gorga and twins Wizzy and Wigg help children learn about science and astrology in a fun and entertaining way.

The episodes were cute, with a catchy theme song, that I found myself humming along with as I prepared dinner. Each episode had a “conflict” that needed to be resolved, for example in the DVD The Zula Patrol: Moons Mayhem, the episode Moon Struck dealt with the planet Venus wanting, but not having a moon of her own. In this episode children learn how moons are formed and how they got to be with the planets that they orbit around. Everything turns out okay in the end and Venus learns that it’s okay not to have a moon… in fact there is another planet in our solar system that doesn’t have one either.

I liked that the educational information that was presented in the episodes was done so in a way that young children would easily understand it. I also liked that at the end of each episode there was a quick recap of what was learned. I will definitely continue playing these DVDs for Noah even if he doesn’t quite get what they are all about right now. The way I see it is that his little brain is such a big sponge right now and I’m sure something will stick in there.
